The upgrade

Most of our clients will no doubt be aware that we’ve updated the site generally and also the technology behind it. Hopefully you like the new logo and find the slightly redesigned web pages even more user friendly.

Just about all our clients are now using the upgraded service which is being delivered using the very latest technology around. But it’s not all about technology – there are, of course, some additional features we’ve incorporated into the upgrade (and many more to soon to be added!). These include:

• Improved ease of saving/opening unfinished plans
• Improved “help” and support features
• The plan drawing page can be minimised
• Improved security with the option to have passwords automatically renewed at chosen periods and the new password emailed to a nominated contact in the office
• Transparent floor plans
• Option to show metric measurements on final plan to nearest 1cm or 10cm
• Control over whether both metric and imperial measurements are shown in the final plans and, if both, in which order
• Automatic backups

Yes, the new logo is all very well, but wouldn't the time have been better spent in working on curved walls/bay windows, and dotted lines to show sloping ceilings? And how about giving internal wall a nonimal 4" thickness to help ground and first floor rooms match up more closely?

Jack, we couldn't agree more as we like nothing better than releasing new features that really make a difference to our customers. It was necessary to make our site compatible with Microsoft's new .NET Framework 2.0 because users who installed it via Windows Update were completely unable to use the old version of our site. Having put that major development effort behind us, we're determined to get back to upgrades like those you mention.

Specifically, the development team intends to complete curved walls, various shapes of bay window, the ability to rotate plans and some other high profile new features very shortly indeed. If all goes well, these improvements may be available to you as early as next week!

The changes to wall thicknesses are also near the top of our list. It would be useful if you could drop us a note via the Contact Us form so that we can get in touch and make sure what we're planning will work for you.

The curved wall ?
This was the first feature I needed but not again until this darn plan which has a few! Also how do you get a worktop in a kitchen to flow past a curved bay window and keep the sink attached to the worktop which wants to migrate into the bay?
OK?

Now upgradede the drop down box in some cases drops below the screen and have to click on and move up which is annoying and wastes time!
The ability to draw a line to connect walls etc would be useful rather than having to use the "solid block" to reduce width and then extend depth to create a wall.
Sometimes it is difficult to place bath in right position where taps ought to be at a certain end - unfixing to wall does not work.
Inglenook fireplaces please.
Thanks Chris Hargreaves

Chris -- our apologies for any inconvenience with the window going off the bottom of the page. That problem was fixed on Thursday morning so if it affects you again please let us know.

We'll get in touch to clarify the other items you mention.
